Ever increasingly high-performing and innovative materials are being developed to meet the challenges and needs of our times. Today, Lineapiù Italia’s advanced research is introducing two new carbon yarns: Shield and Scudo. This project, focused on innovation, involves the winners of Talents Lineapiù competition - Marco Rambaldi, Froy, Rus the Brand - who were asked to give an aesthetic dimension to our technical research
Research and innovation are meeting up again to give the fashion world new expressive opportunities to interpret the spirit of the times.
Nearly 30 years since the presentation of Relax – the first carbon-core yarn to protect against electromagnetic pollution – created in cooperation with the University of Ivrea, Lineapiù Italia proudly presents the latest development in that technology to define a new generation of yarns that can convey a total sense of comfort and modernity.
The Tuscan-based firm is pursuing experiments on high-performance materials and launching a new research project centered on the use of carbon-blend fibers. The objective is to create products that can provide shielding against electromagnetic waves.
The new yarns are Shield – a combination of carbon fibers and viscose, and Scudo – a blend of carbon and organic cotton.
What’s more, the new range of feature unique graphic effects that come from the carbon core.

Lineapiù Italia and Pitti Connect

Lineapiù Italia has chosen Pitti Connect as the platform for presenting the results of a year of technical and design research to the world. This arrangement is strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two organizations and is shifting the methods for presenting new products via the new communications models and methods imposed by the pandemic.
And so, we are witnessing the birth of a digital storytelling project involving all the Pitti Immagine communications platforms and engage them in promoting a fresh sense of Made in Italy contemporaneity.
This is all the more important because it is set in the world of the pandemic, and all the more evident because it is dedicated to excellence. It was all created to exploit the potential of our new way of handling and experiencing communications and business relations.
Pitti Connect confirms the fashion world’s central role as the forge of ideas, developer of projects, and loudspeaker for stories of style that, from a single brand, can reach out, embrace an entire chain and lend a new shine to the traditional meeting between knowing how “to do” and knowing how to imagine and envision.
In this new system, national champions become ambassadors of entire industries, supported and assisted by the associations and agencies that oversee, protect, and promote creativity

THE WINNERS OF THE TALENTS LINEAPIÙ COMPETITION

The range of yarns with a carbon core is a project focused on the future. For this reason, Lineapiù Italia decided to involve the young winners of the Talents Lineapiù, the program launched by the Fondazione Lineapiù in 2017 to support the new generations in the world of fashion.

Each of the winning designers was asked to create a look that could interpret the two yarns in terms of the comfort and modernity they offer, giving real form and clearly representing the lifestyles that are best suited to those concepts.

Marco Rambaldi, Froy (Arman Avetikyan), and Rus the Brand (Patricia Gutierrez) accepted the invitation from Lineapiù Italia, and created outfits that combine style and innovation. And, there is also a look created by Naira Kachatryan.

Marco Rambaldi – Marco Rambaldi
“Our starting point was the concept of protection. Increasingly aware of how much we are exposed to waves, we thought of a sort of wetsuit, a second skin that can protect our bodies as much as possible. Therefore, the iconographic research focused on the specific effects of radiation and electromagnetic waves – that we can’t see on our skin. The jacquard designs created with a blend of the Scudo and Shield yarns in the season’s colors offer a new take on the wave patterns. The items comprising the look are part of the iconic silhouettes that are constants in the Marco Rambaldi collections.”

Arman Avetikyan – Froy
“An outfit developed to protect the body was born from research related to the dangerous increase in electromagnetic waves we are all exposed to. FROY presents its own geometric and functional vision that began with an in-depth study of humans and their anatomy. Then we drew a map of the body’s structure and thanks to that we were able to focus on the most delicate vital organs that often display symptoms related to overexposure to electromagnetic waves. Using the Scudo and Shield yarns in ”closed” stitches  specifically developed for and positioned over those areas, FROY wanted to maximize the shielding capabilities of the innovative Lineapiù yarns and of carbon itself to create an experimental look that plays with shapes and colors in a surreal key.”

Patricia Gutierrez – Rus The Brand
“If the past year has taught us anything, it is that we are more vulnerable than we ever thought given how easily our habits were disrupted. In these days of isolation and social distancing, we learned how to rely even more on digital communications to stay – at least virtually – in touch with the rest of the world. This feeling of needing protection has caused an internal change of awareness in most of us and concepts such as caring for oneself have never been so important. We have taken comfort in combining apparently simple garments that provide ease of movement, and experimental layerings that give the wearers the possibility of expressing themselves.”

Lineapiù Italia

Lineapiù Italia was founded in 1975 at Capalle, near Florence. Under the leadership of Alessandro Bastagli since 2010, thanks to its creative content and the quality of the collections – guaranteed by a true calling for research and innovation, it is now the world leader in the field of yarns for the knitwear industry.
Lineapiù has revolutionized the history of knitwear starting from the development of the first 100% viscose yarn. Then it created Relax, a carbon-core yarn to protect against electromagnetic pollution, followed by “Filo d’aria” (air yarn), that is light, airy and hollow inside to protect against abrupt temperature changes…
And, there are the newer innovative yarns such as the light-sensitive Lumen and Paper Knit – the yarn made of … paper!
Italian excellence: a history, a working method, and creative and manufacturing abilities that have changed knitwear in Italy and across the world. A completely integrated, fully in-house production system for yarn that is 100% Made in Italy and presents three different collections each season: Lineapiù, fantasy and classical yarns with high fashion content; Filclass, for young knitwear; Lineapiù Knit Art yarns for hand-knitting.
