Motion. Because everything is movement, transformation, storytelling, progression.
The theme chosen for the winter editions of the Pitti Immagine fairs embodies the dynamism and the many inspirations that stem from this idea.

Motion is a concept that transcends disciplines, from politics to physics to cinema. For us at Pitti Immagine, the sense of movement also stands for commitment and the ability to bring together in Florence the energies and leading figures of fashion.

Fashion is Motion. It evolves – breaking away from tradition and returning to it. It becomes a voice for ideals, cultures, connections and commitment. It adapts to bodies and, by dressing them, amplifies their presence. It becomes gesture, interpretation, identity. Motion can quickly turn into emotion: a poetic flow, the energy of becoming, the movement of the soul.

A collection of impressions that Chris Vidal and Tuomas Laitinen, respectively editor-in-chief and fashion director of SSAW, channel into the advertising campaign for the 98th edition of Pitti Immagine Filati. Their shots capture the complexity of the weave, the interlacing of threads, the texture of fabric – a movement that flows smoothly, like an abstract brushstroke ready to take shape, to become a garment.
 
The beauty of fashion is that it is in constant change, in never-ending motion. Even when revisiting the past it simultaneously reflects the world we live in today and already gives a glimpse of what tomorrow might look like. That motion, that energy and element of surprise is also what keeps people like us doing what we do.
