A solo fiber art exhibition by Florencia Martinez
CHROMA, as a term, represents hue – a measure of the purity and intensity of a color. CHROMA, as a musical value, refers to a note performed with a duration of one-eighth of a whole note. This is the title chosen by Florencia Martinez – an Argentinian artist with Italian roots who has found a stage for her work in Italy since 1990 – for her solo exhibition presented at the I.A.FIL stand at Pitti Filati (Central Pavilion, Ground Floor).

The exhibition is a synthesis of some of Martinez’s most recent works, crafted from fabric that transcends its traditional two-dimensionality to become sculpture. The surfaces seem to swell and burst, revealing mysterious depths through the fissures that separate the forms. This fabric is manipulated, traversed by stitches that carve into the color, creating designs, segmenting the compact wholeness of the material. These stitches are bold and prominent, giving and embodying a voice—they form the framework, establish connections, and build the structure. They are threads that bind.

The exhibition presents these works in a dialogue with the viewer, inviting visual and tactile exchanges that provoke questions and inspire answers, ultimately leading to the discovery of the hidden dimensions within the sculptures.
